Article: 'Book Festival Will Also Be About Food'
by Carey Weeks - Tasting the Good Life column in the Shreveport Voices

ABOUT SUZANNE:
Suzanne McLennan, author of PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE BISCUITS, began writing at an early age and was encouraged by her mother to share her musings with the public.  Her memoir cookbook is filled with good southern recipes and a sprinkling of her glib wit.  Each chapter contains recipes that are tried and tested by the author and her friends and family.  No hard-to-find ingredients, just the staples of any southern mommas kitchen pantry.  Her stories are about what she knows best---family, children and friendship.  All of them will remind you of your own.  You will laugh, cry and be inspired by her passages and her recipes.

McLennan has plied her interests in a variety of careers---nursing, education and now as an author and speaker. She has always loved good food and loves to teach children to cook and to write.  Her granddaughters have been cooking at her side since old enough to sit in the kitchen sink and hold a bowl of ingredients and stir them with a wooden spoon.  In fact, Macy, Katy and Nana, as they lovingly call her, are collaborating on a children's cookbook---COOKING WITH SUGAR AND SPICE

McLennan's next book departs from her love of cooking and strictly focuses on her writing.  Though still about family, she shares with readers about her childhood and about a difficult time in her life.  This novella will be out in the summer of 2009.

McLennan is available as a speaker.  She speaks from experience and uses humor to deliver a message.  Her faith, her family, her friends and having a good time is what this southern gal is all about.

Suzanne and her husband of 42 years, Bodie, live in Lakeside, TX.  They share their home with a a pleasantly plump and spoiled rotten Jack Russell Terrier named Prissy. They travel, like fishing together and reading good books.  Actually those are the things they do to pass the time until they can have their granddaughters at their side.

She is also the head queen of a chapter of the largest book club in the world---the
Pulpwood Queens, started by Kathy L. Patrick.
