Festival Sponsor Part Of New Wave Of Christian Fiction

Author Mindy Starns Clark and the Christian Fiction Writers organization played a large part in the success of this year's Author! Author! silent auction. Around $200 dollars worth of books were donated for use in our auction baskets, each book being new and noteworthy in the genre of Christian fiction.

An article was posted on the July 15 edition of Yahoo! News that mentions Clark and the use of Amish subject-matter in her new book Shadows of Lancaster County.

Synopsis of Shadows of Lancaster County:

Following up on her extremely popular Gothic thriller, Whispers of the Bayou, Mindy Starns Clark offers another suspenseful stand-alone mystery full of Amish simplicity, dark shadows, and the light of God's amazing grace.

Anna thought she left the tragedies of the past behind when she moved from Pennsylvania to California, but when her brother vanishes from the genetics lab where he works, Anna has no choice but to head back home. Using skills well-honed in Silicon Valley, she follows the high-tech trail her brother left behind, a trail that leads from the simple world of Amish farming to the cutting edge of DNA research and gene mapping.

Anna knows she must depend on her instincts, her faith in God, and the help of the Amish community to find her brother. She also must finally face her own shadows—and pray that she's stronger than the grief that threatens to overwhelm them all. www.barnesandnoble.com

Buzz On Bookworms In The Ballroom

Author! Author!'s new designated children's area, Bookworms in the Ballroom, was a huge success at the 2009 festival! Created by Committee Member and local librarian Deborah Macy, the ballroom of the Municipal Auditorium came alive with arts, crafts, science, and story-telling. Highlights were visits from Courduroy the bear, Sci-Port, and the Peter Pan Players.

Ballroom festivities were not limited to children, as entire families seated themselves at long tables, making anything from bookworm-inspired spectacles to jiggly pipe cleaner antennae. Support for the projects were wide-spread as several of our acclaimed authors donned their own antennae while signing books in the arena.

A round of applause goes out to all who worked so hard on Bookworms in the Ballroom. The Author! Author! Committee Members would also like to express great thanks to everyone who visited throughout the day.
